What a fun time we had! We had Jim & Jaya, Bob & Holly, Tim, Lois, Tom and Renea for a great time of music and fellowship in Chelsea. We started after the auction in the afternoon and played 8 songs under one of the tents in a field just outside of town.
Our set lasted about 45 minutes and we played a combination of some newer songs and some old Jabbok faovorites. While we gently played, "Come and Worship" acoustically, Jim recited the story of Jacob at Jabbok, which was followed by the Jabbok Song. We finished our set with a rousing and slightly country version of "Put Your Hand in the Hand" ,which got some good audience participation.
Afterwards we listened to two other Christian singing groups from the area and then shared in a good old fashioned pig roast. While there were occasional spots of sun, it was chilly and breezy and Jim and Jaya had to eat in the car, but we had a blast and people seemed to really enjoy our music. Pastor David from the Chelsea Church even asked us to come back and play on November 9th at the United Church.
One particular lady who had come to the auction and stayed for the music, hadn't been expecting to hear worship music. She sat in the front row and seemed really touched by our singing. She told some of us afterwards how it had moved her and made her think about how much she missed going to church and praising the Lord. Even though she lived over the mountain in Braintree, she said she would come and hear us again in November!
