Good morning y'all! I'm not sure why, but I am back in the book of Psalms this morning...I have spent some time in Psalm 50 and I want to share with you from this chapter this morning. I want to look at verses 5 &14-15 and then I want to go back and look at verse 7.
"Gather to ME MY consecrated ones, who made a covenant with ME by sacrifice.
Sacrifice thank offerings to GOD, fulfill your vows to the MOST HIGH, and call upon ME in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you will honor ME."
Look first back up to verse 5. I want to point out three words. Consecrate means to declare or set apart as sacred. As Christians we are consecrated to GOD. Covenant means a binding agreement. Our relationship with CHRIST is a covenant relationship. Sacrifice is to offer something to a deity in propitiation. Our covenant relationship with CHRIST is based on HIS sacrifice for us and through this relationship we are consecrated to HIM. Now look at verses 14&15. We are to offer sacrifices of thanksgiving to GOD, we are to be fulfilling our vows to HIM. An attitude of thanksgiving that comes from a heart totally surrendered to our FATHER will HONOR HIM. Here is what the FATHER impressed on my heart during the last hour that I have been reading over this chapter and asking HIM to write it on my heart. My relationship with HIM is based solely on the sacrifice that HE made in my stead. HE made a sacrifice and paid a price that I could never pay. This sacrifice is the basis of the covenant or the binding agreement. Our relationship with HIM gives us access to HIM. THAT IS MIND BOGGLING. It is difficult for me to comprehend that at any given moment I can drop to the knees of my heart and enter into the presence of KING JESUS. THAT IS COOL BEYOND WORDS! HOWEVER, with great privilege comes great responsibility. Having entered into a covenant relationship with HIM requires that I live up to the standard. Fulfilling my vows to GOD MOST HIGH is the standard. Ladies, living according to what HE has placed before us in HIS WORD is the standard. I wonder this morning, HOW ARE WE DOING? Look at verse 7 and I will be done.
"Hear, O MY people, and I will speak, O Israel (Vicky), and I will testify against you: I AM GOD, YOUR GOD."
If we will come to the FATHER with hearts willing to listen and hungry to hear HIS VOICE, HE WILL speak to our hearts and show us where we need to change. That, too, defies my ability to understand. Not only has HE given us what we could never achieve on our own, HE offers to show us the way to walk, if we will only listen. My heart is stirred this morning. I leave my time with HIM asking HIM to keep me ever mindful of the condition of my own heart. I leave this place this morning asking HIM to search my heart and show me where I need to change in order to bring HONOR and GLORY to my JESUS!
FATHER, give me a heart hungry for YOUR HONOR and YOUR GLORY. May my life be a blessing to YOU and an encouragement to those you allow me to serve along side of. May I be a vessel fit for YOU to use in any capacity that YOU see fit. FATHER, may we all have a desire to be all that YOU created us to be. May we be ever mindful of the fact that YOU HAVE A PLAN FOR OUR LIVES. YOU have a plan for us corporately as the body, and individually as parts of the body. May we be faithful to what YOU, in YOUR good will, have called us to. Thank you for the tremendous privilege of calling YOU my FATHER. May I live worthy of the name.
