My heart is somewhat overwhelmed this morning as I consider what the LORD and I have looked at in the WORD. I find myself wondering this morning how many times I sacrifice my relationship with the LORD JESUS on the altar on my own sinful selfish desires. Let's look at Psalm 81:6-16. This was a tough passage for me this morning and yet the FATHER has been so tender in his application to my heart. Let's jump in! HE says, "I removed the burden from their shoulders; their hands were set free from the basket. In your distress you called and I rescued you, I answered you out of the a thundercloud; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Hear, O MY People, and I will warn you--if you would but listen to me, O Israel! You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not bow down to an alien god. I AM THE LORD YOUR GOD, who brought you up out of Egypt. Open wide your mouth and I WILL FILL IT. But MY people would not listen to ME; Israel would not submit to ME. So I gave them over to their stubborn hearts to follow their own devices. If MY People would but listen to ME, if Israel would follow MY ways, how quickly would I subdue their enemies and turn my hand against their foes. Those who hate the LORD would cringe before HIM, and their punishment would last forever. BUT YOU WOULD BE FED WITH THE FINEST OF WHEAT; WITH HONEY FROM THE ROCK I WOULD SATISFY YOU." I honestly cannot enumerate for you this morning how many burdens the FATHER has removed from my shoulders. HE has truly set me free, and yet I am painfully aware this morning that I, too often, go back and pick the burden up and CHOOSE to carry it on my own. That is foolish on my part; and yet, I do it anyway. I cannot tell you how many times I have called and HE has answered...that is the GOD we serve. HE IS moved by our prayers. I see again this morning words that I saw yesterday morning...Hear, O MY People, and I will warn you--if you would but listen to me, O Israel! HE is calling for us to hear HIM, but we don't listen. The next verse is the one that shook me this morning. As I read the words of this verse I clearly heard his voice to my heart. You shall have no foreign god among you; you shall not bow down to an alien god. HE spoke clearly this morning, "Vicky, you are bowing down to the god of your own desires." I am the foreign god that I am bowing to. OUCH! I'll tell you that was not a pleasant exchange...I didn't enjoy hearing those words, but HE has reminded me in the quiet moments of this morning that HE will meet me where I am. HE will be what I need. HE will SATISFY MY HEART, if I will only relinquish my own selfishness and sin to HIM. Ladies, that is too cool! The WORD is clear...IF you will listen, THEN I will satisfy your heart. Too many of us live our lives lacking the satisfaction that HE longs to give us. Perhaps we quit just before that satisfaction comes; or maybe we have just never stopped and decided that HE could truly have all of our heart. I would encourage you this morning in the quiet place of your heart to stop and spend a few minutes with YOUR FATHER. Ask HIM if you have bowed the foreign god of yourself. Ask HIM if you are sacrificing your relationship with HIM on the altar of your own wants and desires. You see, HE will let you do this if you are bent on it, but HE LONGS TO SATISFY YOUR HEART INSTEAD! And so again this morning, I lay myself before HIM and I ask HIM to transform my heart yet again today. FATHER, make me ever aware of my own sinful desires. Give me a heart willingly conformed to YOUR WORD. Fill me with desire for YOU that far surpasses my desire to have my own wants. YOU are so worthy of whatever we have to give up in order to KNOW YOU. Take my heart FATHER, take heart of every person that reads these WORDS today and make us consumed with a desire for YOUR HOLINESS. Thank you for calling us to walk WITH YOU. Thank you for promising to SATISFY our hearts. YOU are so amazing. YOUR love never ceases to amaze my heart. Thank you for speaking clearly and tenderly this morning. I love you JESUS! In YOUR MATCHLESS NAME...AMEN! Have a wonderful day ladies. Take a few minutes to surrender again your whole heart to the GOD who has your best interest in HIS heart!
