Good morning to you! My heart is overwhelmed yet again today as I consider the invitation that we are given every day. I was sharing last week with my sister and some of her friends about the amazing invitation that the FATHER has given us. Stop for just a minute and think about this: GOD has invited YOU to come EVERY DAY and stand in HIS PRESENCE...HE invites you to climb up into HIS lap and rest your head on his shoulder and allow HIM to wrap HIS arms of love around your heart. Stop and let that thought consume your heart this morning. HOLY GOD has invited you and me, sinful people at very best, to come and sit WITH HIM. That is more than my mind can comprehend and more than my heart can even begin to express, but I know it to be true! Let's look at the last part of Exodus 32 this morning and then over to 1 Samuel 12. GOD is so good to call us to keep following HIM even after we have sinned. This is more than my mind can imagine and yet HIS WORD is clear on the matter. Let's jump in.
Exodus 32:30-34 And it came about on the next day that Moses said to the people, "You yourselves have committed a great sin; and now I am going up to the LORD, perhaps I can make atonement for your sin." Then Moses returned to the LORD, and said, "Alas, this people has committed a great sin, and they have made a god of gold for themselves. But now, if THOU wilt, forgive their sin...and if not, please blot me out from THY book which THOU hast written!"
And the LORD said to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against ME, I will blot him out of MY book. But go now, lead the people where I told you. Behold MY angel shall go before you; nevertheless in the day when I punish, I will punish them for their sin."
I love this. I love the heart of Moses in this passage, but ladies, what I love the most is the heart of MY FATHER in this passage. Moses, as the leader of the people, recognizes his responsibility in that role and asks GOD to forgive their sin. He says, If you can't forgive them then hold me accountable too! Notice two things: First, GOD says...I will hold accountable the one who has committed the sin. That is important...we are accountable to the FATHER when we sin. Then notice what GOD says to Moses..."GET MOVING...LEAD THE PEOPLE WHERE I TOLD YOU!" I love that because it speaks to my heart of the fact that GOD longs to restore HIS PEOPLE. HE wants us to follow HIM and do what HE has planned for us EVEN AFTER WE HAVE FALLEN. Ladies, these people fell hard...so do we! When GOD calls us to follow HIM, HE knows that we will (at times) fall, but HE invites us when we do to get back up and allow HIM to brush us off and put us back on the path that HE has called us to walk. Don't you just love that about HIM? I DO! You have no idea how much I love that about HIM. I want to look at another passage with you this morning because it speaks to this same thing. Turn with me to 1 Samuel 12:20-25 And Samuel said to the people, "Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet do not turn aside from following the LORD, but serve the LORD with all your heart. And you must not turn aside, for then you would go after futile things which cannot profit or deliver, because they are futile. For the LORD WILL NOT ABANDON HIS PEOPLE on account of HIS great name, because the LORD has been pleased to make you a people for HIMSELF. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by ceasing to pray for you; but I will instruct you in the good and right way. Only fear the LORD and serve HIM in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things HE has done for you. BUT if you still do wickedly, both you and your king shall be swept away."
Again, I love the heart of the leader here, but MORE than that I LOVE THE HEART OF GOD in this passage. Ladies, GOD DOES NOT ABANDON HIS PEOPLE.
(This was written specifically of the Israelites, but because of Calvary, YOU AND I ARE HIS PEOPLE TOO. HE adopted us into HIS family! And we are even related by BLOOD.)
Notice what Samuel says to the people..."You have sinned, but DO NOT CEASE FROM FOLLOWING THE LORD...SERVE HIM WITH ALL YOUR HEART!" I believe this is the heart of OUR FATHER to us today and every day. If you have fallen, it saddens HIS heart, but ladies, it will make HIM much more sad if you fall and then CHOOSE to remain a fallen comrade...YOU HAVE THE CHOICE TO GET BACK UP. What a gracious offer from our SAVIOR! In the WORDS of Max Lucado...NO WONDER THEY CALL HIM THE SAVIOR! I absolutely love that. Does this give us license to sin? NO MA'AM...NOT AT ALL, but it does give us a way back to the LORD JESUS when we fall down. Ma'am, can you hear the voice of your FATHER calling you back to HIMSELF this morning? Can you see HIS piercing eyes as they look your way and hear HIS VOICE say, "MY CHILD COME HOME...I AM WAITING TO ENVELOPE YOU IN MY LOVE AND RESTORE YOU TO MYSELF!"
HE did this with the Israelites time and time again. HE did this with Pete in the book of John. HE has done this with me...and Ma'am, with all of my heart I know HE LONGS TO DO IT FOR YOU! Won't you stop for a minute this morning and hear HIS VOICE, and allow HIM to wrap HIS arms around your hurting heart and restore you to SWEET SWEET FELLOWSHIP WITH HIM.

O FATHER, may we never pass up the opportunity to come and sit in your embrace. When we never be so full of ourselves that we would not allow you to restore us to. May we always be looking for YOUR FACE. May we always be listening for YOUR VOICE. May our hearts be in tuned to YOUR SPIRIT. O LORD JESUS, make us like YOU. RESTORE US WHEN WE HAVE FALLEN...and TEACH US TO WALK CLOSE TO YOUR SIDE. Thank you for being MY SAVIOR! Thank you for being MY FRIEND. Thank you for NEVER giving up on me. I am amazed and overwhelmed at YOUR AWESOME GOODNESS to me. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! FATHER, continue to draw our hearts to YOUR OWN! May we be willing to surrender every part of our heart to YOU and YOU ALONE! I love YOU! In JESUS PRECIOUS HOLY NAME I pray...AMEN!

Ladies, My heart is truly overwhelmed! Thank you for allowing me to share this with you today. When GOD saved us HE did so with a plan and a purpose for our lives. HE wants to use you...will you allow HIM to wrap you in HIS LOVE today and restore the fellowship...Once you allow HIM to restore you then you are on your way to recommissioning...this is a sweet sweet call!
