Psalm 20:1-5 "May the LORD answer you in the day of trouble! May the name of the God of Jacob set you securely on high! May HE send you hope from the sanctuary and support you from Zion! May HE remember all your meal offerings and find your burnt offering acceptable! May HE grant you your heart's desire and fulfill all your counsel! We will sing for joy over your victory, and in the name of our GOD we will set up our banners. May the LORD fulfill all your petitions."
I find a great deal of encouragement from the above verses. Ladies, with all of my heart I believe that GOD longs to do everything the above verses say about HIM. I believe that HE longs to answer our prayers and fulfill our desires. I believe HE longs to fill our heart's with hope. I believe HE longs to support us with support that ONLY HE can give us. I believe that HE longs to hear our voices sing songs that flow from
joy-filled heart's because WE KNOW HIM AS HE IS.
But can I tell you something else this morning? I believe that often times we tie HIS hands and HE can't do the things for us that HE longs to do. I am sure you are probably thinking..."Vicky...HE is GOD....HE can do whatever HE desires." Let me finish my thought before you write me off this morning as a heretic. You see...It cost HIM EVERYTHING to be able to bring us into right relationship with HIMSELF. And HE willingly GAVE EVERYTHING. But Ma'am...we treat that sacrifice as if it weren't that big of a deal. We act as if Calvary was nothing more than a way for us to escape the fires of hell. I believe that must break the heart of the FATHER WHO GAVE US HIS SON. Ma'am...HE longs to do in your life what ONLY HE can do, but what are you doing with what HE already did. We can only come to HIM and ask HIM to fulfill our desires because HE has given us HIMSELF. Are you taking that sacrifice for granted.
Stop what you are doing right now and consider WHAT HE DID FOR YOU. We can only come into HIS presence because HE prayed, and was greatly distressed, and sweat drops of blood...Ma'am, that was before HE endured the beatings, the "trials," the mockery, and the nails in HIS HANDS AND FEET for you and for me. HE got on HIS face in the garden of Gethsemane and begged the FATHER for another way to redeem you and me.
Dear Sweet Lady hear this today....THERE WAS NO OTHER WAY, and because of that OUR PRECIOUS SAVIOR endured what we will never comprehend so that we could come to HIM in FREEDOM. I wonder this morning WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH THAT?
With all of my heart I believe that we do not even begin to grasp the magnitude of what HE did. I can't allow myself to believe that we understand and then we go on living like it doesn't matter. I can't believe that we could truly understand and then pass by HIS WORD morning after morning and say..."I don't have time today." I can't believe that we could understand and then have the audacity to NOT PRAY. I don't believe that we can truly understand what HE did and walk by those lost people all around us day after day and never tell them that JESUS DIED FOR THEM.
O FATHER, THAT OUR HEARTS WOULD BREAK OVER OUR OWN SINFUL RESPONSE TO WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US. THAT WE WOULD BE BROKEN BECAUSE WE HAVE TAKEN YOUR SACRIFICE FOR GRANTED. O GOD, OPEN OUR EYES TO SEE AND REALIZE THAT YOU SAVED US TO SERVE YOU AND TO SERVE THOSE AROUND US WHO DO NOT KNOW YOU. FATHER, THAT WE WOULD BE AMBASSADORS FOR YOU IN THIS DARK WORLD. THAT WE WOULD LIVE FOR YOU REGARDLESS OF WHAT OTHERS SAY AND THINK ABOUT US. LORD JESUS, THAT WE WOULD NOT WALK AWAY FROM A LOST PERSON WITHOUT HAVING BEEN A DISPLAY OF WHO YOU ARE IN OUR LIVES. LORD JESUS, MAY WE BE FOUND FAITHFUL TO YOU BECAUSE WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN US COST YOU EVERYTHING, BUT YOU WILLINGLY DID IT. THAT IS SOMETHING THAT MY HEART SIMPLY CANNOT GRASP. O LORD JESUS THAT WE WOULD NEVER BECOME ACCUSTOMED TO THE THOUGHT OF CALVARY. THANK YOU FOR YOUR WORD. THANK YOU FOR WRITING YOUR WORD ON MY HEART AND FOR ALLOWING ME THE PRIVILEGE OF SHARING IT WITH OTHERS. I AM UNWORTHY OF WHAT YOU HAVE GIVEN ME AND YET YOU CONTINUE TO GIVE....THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!
IN THE MATCHLESS HOLY NAME OF JESUS I PRAY. AMEN
