I've had it happen many times, Buffy. Especially in the minor league ranks. Even though I'm pretty attractive (or so I'm told, lol), there are the "stunners" that feel I'm extremely plain in their wake and I've gotten hipchecked out of the way. Girls can get catty, you know? Most times I give the player I am talking to a smile and nod, and guage the situation. Some of them have given me the "help me" look, signifying that said intruder is a nutbag and he needs saving. Other times I get the "sorry" smile, and I get the hint and step aside. There have been times when I have gotten the second reaction, but still left with that player. Boys-go fig.
I've seen the older ladies making moves, too, though. Sometimes it is almost funny. Not that they're older and putting moves on hockey players, but the fact that some of these guys are very young. Guess they don't mind a woman with experience? Only one gave me a patronizing smile as if to say, "Sorry Dear, he's mine tonight."
Some of them have been on the road. Some have been at home. It happens.
