Subject: The Fox of St Mary's Cemetary

The cemetary fox we lazily named 'Foxy'.
At first it's appearance was amusing. This little creature bobbing along the horizon, and then changing direction, curiously ambling toward the wall which the metal balcony outside our studio hangs over.
On the first day we fed him cheese and digestive biscuits. It seemed very timid and would cower as we lobbed pieces of Kingsmill in it's vicinity, waiting a few seconds before tentatively approaching our bready offerings.
Day after day it returns at about 6.30pm and sits cutely with his white paws tucked neatly together beneath it's furry belly. We go out onto the balcony and sure enough it's sitting there in the same familiar position.
As our affection for this poor creature grows the quality of our treats increases. He now dines on chicken, ham and digestive biscuits, from McVities rather than Asda.
Yet now, the realisation that this poor creature is alone in the world comes home. It is obvious that no little'uns depend on this scrawny urchin. The food we offer is either eaten immediately or buried in the ground closeby, surrounded by the thousands of limestone relics which mark the graves of people born hundreds of years ago.
I wonder if he sits and waits on the days we're not there...

that fox, zac, is the fattest, sly-est fox i've ever seen. it's taking you for a ride, as it did with that guy from the clash and that guy from babyshambles.
