Chuncks missing is not good, always difficult to replace them and not have them show up afterward. When or if you replace the polymer stock you'll have to offset with more US parts naturally. The FSE fire control parts would be my recommendation, good quality, no work required to make them work. Hanguards, well Tapco does have them and so does DSA, in fact I think DSA has the STG 58 / G1 type steel handguards for about $5 less than Tapco.

Is your ultimate goal to have as historically correct a version of the G1 as you can make it or is it just to have a good looking working FAL?

On those floor plates and followers, that price you quoted to me seems a bit on the high side. I would have expected $4 to $5 for the set. Over on Falfiles they talk about some sources that have floor plates for a cheap as a buck each if you order quantity.
