Did you ever frequent the Crown or the Golden Eagle in town circa 1978 or 1979? I was a regular at Barbarella's too - good memories.

The set I saw in Stoke last week was perfect - I understand your points but I suppose times have changed and people change. I remember 'Mirror in the Bathroom' being written and played in the early days and most people would find it unrecognisable - it 'evolved' quite quickly into the song we all know and love but, even so, I kinda miss the original.

I'm all for sets that last longer where the Beat are concerned but, I suppose that with the time constraints placed on them by the venues (and their own stamina lol), it's quite difficult to choose songs. Let's face it - most of us on here would be more than happy to spend a few hours listening to every tune ever penned by every member the band has ever had!!!!

They are still so good that, although I live in Wales now, I'm hoping to head down to Brum to see them (if I can organise tickets/accomodation etc...) and I'm looking forward to getting better acquainted with their newer stuff :)
