I agree with you that when quite bit but crap out of town bands come and there is no local support band and the cost of admittance is like £5 it is very tempting not to bother. It would make better sense to put on local bands with these out of town bands BUT for some reason this doesn't happen, with the exception of when Capdown play here. Like the time Freaks Union played before 4ft Fingers and totally blew them away. Better UK bands definitely need to come and play here to justify £5 admission fees.

About Freaks Union - yes they are great, we all know how great they really are, but i agree that they need to get out of Hull more and spread their greatness far and wide. I have a friend who lives near Glasgow who knows all about how good they are and would love to see them live! I don't know if they want to make it 'big' (perhaps taking part in a Battle of the Bands suggest they do), but it's up to them at the end of the day, but they certainly have the potential to become fucking huge. Capdown got where they are today through constant touring and they now have massive nationwide respect. I would love to see Freaks Union emulate them because it is what they deserve. Far less deserving bands have 'made' it here in the UK because of geography, living near London, and appearing on P-Rock. So if there is any justice in the world then Freaks Union will make it and not even by 'selling out' which they might be afraid about. They've 'bought in' as far as i'm concerned so i think they should seek to take their band as far as possible and represent Hull the best that they can.
