I dont think anyone can complain about Adelphi prices really, and yet strangely people do. When your here in Aberdeen it costs £4 to see local bands, £7 to see Thisgirl and £9 to see Capdown. Daylight robbery i call it. Thats why ive brought Salad Dodger Promotions up here to try make a difference but the venue still want to rob more money for door staff they say even though i said ill do it myself.
As for the Hull scene, it all seems quite healthy now because of the ammount of people like you Nige, who are putting these gigs on for the love of music unlike the people who did them Welly gigs (The Damned, King Prawn etc) and obviously knew nothing about the bands or the support bands wouldnt have been shite like Substance.
The real threat is the clubs, the people who go them, being the same people who complain that adelphi is too expensive. its all crazy really.
Suprisingly there has been no mention of the Haworth. would these be the wankers you were referring to Nigel? i dont know much about it really but i know there getting there moneys worth, and although their putting Hull on the map, seems like their just stealing bands who people you helped promote and grabbing money from it.
