The sun drifted lower towards the horizon but the air stayed warm, except for a chill breeze coming off the ocean. The wind held, thanks to Telmar's spell, but it would not last another day due to all the magical interference in the atmosphere. Eight bells tolled marking the end of a watch and the beginning of the first dog watch. (about 4 PM).

Hornblower strode out onto the deck and saw Miguel next to the two fallen passengers. "Ahoy, there, Miguel. What seems to be the trouble here?"

"Oh, no trouble really, Captain," Miguel answered, saluting sharply. "They collapsed after I had informed them that there were no women aboard, due to them being bad luck on a voyage." Hornblower chuckled at this and nudged Felix and Rhamberdie with his foot.

"Well, then, Miguel, rouse the other guests and tell 'em sup in my cabin at the next bell."

"Aye aye captain," Miguel said, then went off to tell the others the captain's orders.

Meanwhile:
Below the deck in the cargo hold, a man clothed entirely in black sat behind the boxes of goods, polishing a wicked looking rapier. Another man, dressed in sailors' garb, shuffled nervously over to the black-clad man. "Everything is going well, I presume?" the dark man asked the sailor, not looking up from his rapier.

"Y..y...yes sir, very well...The *gulp* passengers are all aboard, and everything is going as, uh.. planned, but..." The dark man looked up sharply at the sailor at this addition.

"But?" The sailor nodded, swallowing hard.

"But there's word that there's a silver nymph aboard. I..."

"Do not trouble me with such petty nonsense! All the passengers are outlanders, they know nothing of this world. Telmar is a fool if he thinks they can do anything now... Leave me and report anything unusual to me later." The sailor bowed hastily and exited the hold, trying to look as if he had just been making a routine check of the cargo...
