Geof's eyes narrowed at Sydney as he clutched the paper close to his chest. The power of the Dark One had influenced him to the extent that Sydney's power was ineffective, and Geof knew it so his answer was of his own free will. "The Dark One told me it must be so, and whatever the Dark One says, I shall do." With that, he wrenched himself from Raith's grasp and ran down into the hold.

Miguel, in the meantime, had slipped away and barged into the Captain's cabin. He didn't give any notice of the nymph on the table, but went straight over to Hornblower and whispered in his ear. Hornblower's face went from pink, to red, to a nice maroon color by the time Miguel was finished. He stood up and pounded his fists angrily on the table. He slowly calmed himself and sat down again. "Everyone needed to sign, he said? I knew ye be a good lad, Miguel. We'll see if he cannot do anything without your name." He looked to Link, Rhamberdie, and Felix. "If'n there be trouble, ye be willin' ta help me? Ar, of course; ye be needin' te git to wherever ye be goin'. We'll sit tight until it starts, but we'll be prepared."

Meanwhile, Geof ran down into the hold and bowed hastily as he approached Orin. "What is it?" Orin asked calmly. Geof handed him the paper with all the signatures. Orin glanced at it. "This is not all of them." Geof cowered away from Orin as the dark man stood up. "The Dark One will not be happy with you. Because of you, we shall have to move up the time of attack, without the protection of the negative energy zone!" On the last sentence, he started too calmly and wound up nearly yelling, his face becoming livid with anger. "Go and tell the crew to gather. It will start tonight, on my word!" Geof bowed again and ran out to let the sailors know of the new plan.
