Subject: Ethan/Theresa/Fox/Gwen/Eve/Ivy - and other players...

As I sat down and watched today's show I felt like this was much more enjoyable, dramatic and angsty then I had ever seen it before. At lest when it came to the E/T/Bennett house hold parts.

First off, let's talk about Ethan. I've said it once, I'll say it again, but I really feel his pain. Today was no exception. The man looks very torn. Here he has the love of his life that he knows would never purposely harm his mother, but he's got his mother - whom he thinks the world of - saying the love of his life tried to kill her. Whitney reminding him of all the stuff that Theresa has done for Ethan, you could tell it hit him harder. IMO he wanted to believe but he can't. Not only because of the emotional position it puts him in, but it's a logical stand point too. Let's face it, if you were in this situation and knowing what you know and believing what you believe, are you honestly going to shrug it off and so 'oh well, Theresa didn't do it despite all this!'? Nah.

A chord was struck in him though. Anyone who thinks he was being an ass was wrong. He requestioned Ivy despite how much he was trying to insist that she would never lie. Deep down he knew better, but deep down I think he hated to think his mother was a liar. But it just goes to prove that Ethan is the most manipulated character in Harmony.

Let's go on to Theresa. Okay, I'm still happy that there are glimpses of Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald, but Theresa Crane still sucks. But I did feel bad for her. She had everyone in the world against her. Yeah, she was damn stupid for how she handled the situation which got her into this mess, but I still felt bad for her. Even as Theresa Crane, ain't no way she's a killer. But honestly, Theresa can be just as manipulated as Ethan is. The difference is Theresa can do some of the manipulation while Ethan just sits there.

But this latest "scheme" against the Cranes is just hella stupid. Theresa, dear, if you don't want the evil to get you or your son how about you just divorce Julian and leave? Giving away that money, while hopefully to nobel causes, is NOT the way to get away from "evil". The money is not evil! *sigh*

Fox, wtf? Can we just ship him off to a new storyline? The guy stands around like David Jr.! He had... what? Three lines today? And despite him not being manipulated by Ivy, even he didn't believe she was capable of throwing herself down the stairs. What does that really say about him? If Ethan's a dumbass... he's a dumber ass?

Gwen. What was this crap? "Oh, I'll take care of Little Ethan for you." Was this some sort of "Gwen's really a saint" drivel they've been trying to sell us? Crap I tell you. And threw it all, you could see her bitchy side with her subtle digs against Theresa and Ethan just stands around like the inanimated object he tends to be. And while Ivy manipulates Ethan, what does saint Gwen do? Just sit there and shake her head. Gee, Gwen, if you're such a saint, why don't you blow her out of the water?

Eve...at least someone finally stood up to Ivy in some way. I'll never like Eve, but at least I can be happy. LOL I was glad someone finally did something to help Theresa.

Ivy was being her usual self. Manipulative, conning, etc., etc. I'm actually surprised she fell to Eve's whim. I mean, hell, if it just takes Ethan to get what you want from Ivy... maybe Eve should let Theresa in on that. LOL But man, could she get any more nerve racking? Although I did enjoy where she was saying that "maybe" Theresa didn't purposely push her down the stairs with the mumble while looking away from them. It was just *funny*.

The rest of the players in that house seemed more like mere objects that were just decorative for the scene. Sam and Grace were just there to "further" the wedge between them. While I'm glad Grace believed Theresa, I'm not sure she would have been as gun-ho about it had it be anyone else but Ivy. Sam, while he is being manipulated and a dumbass, was doing his job. When your job is to protect and maintain order you have to do these things, but at the same time it pisses one off because we all know better. But in any case, this was just as much a Grace/Sam/Ivy storyline as it was an Fox/Theresa/Ethan/Gwen storyline Though the "Fox" part of that is ify at best.

All in all, I did fairly enjoy the show. The angst was there and that's just as important as anything. Seeing Ethan fight his heart and his head was intense at times but annoying at other times. And Eric does look good with an over coat and that better hair.

[> Great Post! Care if I add? -- Voltaire, 14:31:40 02/27/03 Thu (12.81.200.49)

Today's show wasn't bad at all, though like you said some of the parts made one want to throw things off the coffeetable and at your screen. Anytime Gwen opens her mouth is a point for me to pick up ashtrays, coasters and anything else on the coffeetable, including chess pieces.

First--was it me or did there seem once again to be actually some communication going on between Ethan and Theresa? It was really a rather nice scene with them even if it was filled with angst. It seemed that both characters were actually listening and talking back to each other instead of just at each other. Thumbs up there.

Second--Gwen saying she'd take care of the baby was nothing more than a shining moment for Ethan to do his famous "awww, isn't she sweet?" stuff. Gwen knows her cards well, I'll give her that. Theresa can never beat her because in many respects Gwen is much smarter than Theresa in this respect. But all her barbs were ridiculous with "I never believed you innocent." Or...."Ethan has seen the light" I mean, what the hell did that have to do with the situation at hand? They weren't talking about their relationships with Ethan...they were talking about being arrested for attempted murder. Though Ethan remained in dazed and dozed mode during Gwen's barbs, he also never negated that he was with Gwen due to her pregnancy or that he would be married to Theresa if Gwen didn't find herself with Gweebie. Good point for ET fans.

I also liked that Theresa pretty much acted like an adult in those scenes. She didn't snark back at Gwen, "I was too innocent you cretin!" or "Don't touch my son gold-digging Albino Chic!" To me it showed class and refinement. Something Theresa could use tons of simply by owning up that maybe she wasn't so innocent (and it's not a crime to not be innocent) and her simple "Thank you Gwen."

third--Did this seem like the spelling out of Theresa's downfall that we've talked over for months? That the house and power have changed her into a bit of a monster herself? It was interesting to hear Ethan mention it and then Theresa basically agree to it.

fourth--Was it me or when Theresa explained to Ethan how bad it was when he was thrown out of the family that Gwen looked a little uncomfortable? Again, the mention of the tabloid in a round about way. Could it be?? Could it be that maybe someday Gwen will be exposed for it's being discoverd and Ethan will find out who took his life away from him like he always wanted to know but conviently forgot lately?

fifth--Fox did not do much today but stand around and mimic back all the lines to the characters..."No, Ivy wouldn't do something to jeaporize her life....but I wouldn't put it past her that she would try to ruin Theresa." Right after Ethan says "Mother wouldn't do anything to risk her life."

The rest of the characters did basically the same...stand around and look perplexed. Gwen and Fox have something in common...their soul exsistance is to be spectators to what Ethan and Theresa are doing.

Fox could become a viable threat to ET or actually get in the storyline if he and Gwen pair up to bring ET down. Otherwise, Theresa seems to be madly in love with Ethan till death do them part. I don't see her forgetting Ethan and turning to Fox for that much needed comfort. However, if Gwen and Fox teamed up to keep them apart, I could see it then.

There for a moment I actually thought maybe we were getting the redemption of Theresa. It would be nice if it would be that way with her sudden realization of Crane evilness and her wanting to turn the empire into something. However, her last line sorta killed that when she looked crazed again. I would love to have one crazed-less episode for once. And unless she blieves that by making the Cranes the good Christian family is somehow going to take out the evil...I don't know what sense her new plan makes either. Like you said, someone with a backbone would begin packing their bags immediately and packing up baby and moving home.

I had to LOL at Ethan towards the end again....he had his infamous line to pull out.

"Mother...I hope you're telling the truth...for your case."
"Theresa, for your case, I hope you're telling me the truth." (at his wedding to Gwen)
"Mother, if I find out you had anything to do with this, I will make sure the law comes after you...better not be lying, for your sake." (After Theresa came back from the dead."

What a joke LOL. Of course Ethan's "Oh wait, love you mom!" turn around sucked. Wish he would be that way with Theresa.

However, Ethan did seem a little unbalanced when Ivy said Theresa didn't try to murder her. Like for a brief moment everything he had just told Theresa his mother wasn't, she could be.

And wtf was Gwen talking about "Ethan loved you for years." Years?!

Of course...Ethan about gave himself away after screaming at Theresa, looking at her like a bug...listening to Gwen bitch about her and then say "You're my rock"...what does Ethan do?

"I can't stop this but I will try to get Mother to lessen the charges and I'll make sure you get a lawyer."

LOL right after telling Theresa to stay the hell away from him.

Conflicted much?

And they must have been standing outside for hours...it was daylight when Ethan went out...and now it's night.

Keep Eric in his coat from now on. LOL The coat is very very good. And props to the hair department again....looked normal again today.

[> [> Add away! -- Tao, 15:12:41 02/27/03 Thu (162.33.107.136)

Excellent points! Makes me want to add some more stuff...

First off, I completely agree that there was some E/T communication going on today. And the funny thing is, I believe it was Whitney who was helping that along. Watching Ethan and Theresa stare into each others eyes, it was more like pleeding on Theresa's part and wanting to believe Theresa on Ethan's part. I felt a real good connection there.

And yes, I was quite proud of Theresa today. This is what I call "backbone" and "grown up", etc., because she actually proved it by her actions and words. They had a few point and counterpoint towards each other, but for the most part I saw a real adultness with Theresa in those scenes.

I was also quite proud that she didn't try to sweep her own change under the rug. It was more like, "Hey, yeah, here I am and I've changed. God how I've changed!" And I'm glad that Passions acknowledged it. Hey, maybe NBC reads the board! (Okay, sorry, I couldn't resist...)

I honestly felt like a lot of people grew in the first half of the show. Of course then it went downhill from there. LOL

There are two things mentioned in today's show, as well as quite a few shows, that I feel are hints. One is the tabliod in that round about way and everyone mentioning how Ethan will hate Ivy if he finds out the truth. Hopefully TPTB aren't saying these things in vein.

Something else I caught that just shocked me. Did you see how Theresa admitted to loving Ethan all her life? That she went to work for Ivy to be near Ethan? I was like, okay, when did this revelation become so apparent? I mean, isn't that the very thing haters and lovers have been fighting about? It was just weird. "Yeah, we had that talk off screen." LOL

Oh, and so true about Fox and Gwen. I can truly see this becoming much like the Days quadrangle of Sami/Austin/Carrie/Lucas. Fox/Theresa/Ethan/Gwen has all the makings of it. Especially if Fox and Gwen scheme to break up Ethan and Theresa.
