I am writing this to urge anyone who visits this forum to get involved with an important issue. Back in October General Shinseki of the US Army made a decision to issue all persons entering the army a black beret starting June 2001. The black beret has long been a symbol of honor and hardwork to the Airborne RANGERS. These men have worked hard and have gone above and beyond the call of duty to be called a RANGER. You cannot give to someone what someone else has worked so hard and sacrificed for. Anything worth having must be earned! Many men have died wearing the Black Beret and they have no voice in this matter. Starting February 10th 2 former Rangers will be marching the 700+ miles from Ft. Benning Ga to Washington DC. They will be asking President Bush to sanctify the Black Beret for the RANGERS as President Kennedy did for the Green Beret in 1962.Please support these men in their mission. They will be sleeping on the ground and keeping with RANGER standards all the way. This march is expected to last a month. More info can be found at www.rangerblackberet.com Please visit the wedsite, you wont be sorry. Our armed forces sacrifice their own personal freedom to protect our national security and our freedom. If we dont support them, how long do you think we will have those things? Many of these men have seen and done things we could never even imagine and they deserve respect for their efforts! Please show them support. There is alot of information at the website. There is a petition that will be given to President Bush along with Ranger Scotts own prized possession, his black beret. Ranger Nielsen has the duty and honor of carrying the black beret of a fallen RANGER for inspiration to complete the mission. If I cannot appeal to your sense of loyalty or patriotism, Please continue reading and think about this. These new Berets will cost extreme amounts of money and will be purchased from China. The Army is in desperate need of that money being put in other places. These people need higher pay, better benefits, new updated equiptment and ammunition for training. If you had to fight alongside these men who would you rather be with...? The soldier who has trained with live ammo or the soldier who has only been trained by a mock simulation? People if we are called to war now...We are in trouble! We need to build a better, stronger army. They do not need new hats, They need more funding! Again, Would you rather the soldier with the new hat or the soldier who knows how to fight, standing next to you? Please let your voice be heard before its too late.
