Eyes trained silently on the abuse and the elder's wrath, he sat frozen like a young rabbit though even to his surprise the panic was yet to return. Instead, he watched cooly with the certain knowledge that the night would bring pain but maybe, just maybe... he would walk away from this largely unharmed.
