Subject: Hastings full history project

For some years now I have been working on the definitive history of the Hastings for eventual publication. I have extracted all the information from the RAF record cards but still need the answer to some queries which I'm sure readers of this site can provide.
I would like to hear from anyone who can give details of individual aircraft codes and serials (excluding of course the 'last three' codes) and anyone who wants to make a contribution to the history

More specific queries are:

70 Sqdn Which aircraft carried mythical names? Were these only painted on one side of the aircraft? What were the names, which aircraft wore them and when were they in use

48 Sqdn Why were only certian letter combinations used in the'GPx' codes?

When did 48 Sqdn start to use 'GPx' codes (August 1957?)

When did 48 sqdn remove the 'GPx@ codes from their aircraft (Decmeber 1961?)

Did 202 Sqdn code their aircraft?

Did the FECS allocate 'Gxx@ codes, If not, why not?

Was C.1A an unofficial title. What was the Mod. Number of the external wing tanks modification?

any response please to Mike.fairless1@eds.dwp.gsi.gov.uk

70 Sqn used the Mythical names from 1963-65 in 'olde English' writing, maybe Gothic type, I serviced these kites at El Adem when visiting from nearby Akrotiri.

48 Sqn 3 Alpha code avoided 'O' and 'I' as it was too close to numbers TG580 crashed at Gan in July 1959 with the 3 Alpha code GPN but TG536 replaced this aircraft with the same code GPN.

202 Met Hastings no visible codes on fuselage to my knowledge but did use a 3 Alpha Call Sign in Comms with ATC

FECs did not use the 3 Alpha Code, ditto above.

C1 was a transport designation for all Mark 1 Hastings TG series
C1A ditto above but with under wing tip tanks, that was an officialRAF/Air Ministry designation
C2 was the Mark 2 Hastings with differing tail plane configuration to C1 and had a larger fuel capacity, no under wing tip tanks
C3 four were built for the RNZAF only
C4 was the VIP variant
T5 variant was for the BCBS with Radome under belly as at Newark and Cosford museums.
