Just because people are against war in Iraq doesn't mean they are "pacifists". WTF ever happened to "Osama dead or Alive"? I think that will be W.'s "No new taxes" line. If you examine the case for Saddam's supposed connection to bin Laden, you'll notice that all the evidence points to the fact that these two despise each other. Saddam is exactly the kind of secular, corrupt dictator that bin Ladin want's to rid the middle east of and create "pure" Muslim state.
The war in Iraq is draining all the resources we should be using to take out al Queada and fix the economy. Homeland security is a joke, they've spent all of this money and not one cent of it has gone to the front lines of city governments and police and fire departments. If a city gets nuked, it will probably be because we are engaging in foreign adventures rather than spending money securing our ports, for example. Right now, there are thousands and thousands of containers coming into our ports, and a very small percent are even being checked. What's Mr. Bush doing about that? Also, if we get nuked, I can almost guarantee that the nuke will come from the former USSR, not intentionally, but they have a huge stockpile, and very little money to spend on keeping them secure. What's
W.'s solution? Invade Iraq.
Actually, Isreal is the perfect example of why our plan in Iraq won't work. Sharon's policies have done more to encourage terrorism than anything else. It's not like people just wake up one day and decide to be suicide bombers, most have relatives who were killed by the IDF, and they want revenge. Don't get me wrong, I think Israel has every right to defend itself, but the occupation and settlement has created much of the terrorism. Likewise, our invasion of Iraq will create a large pool of new recruits for bin Ladin.
