Right. In the previous war, we were pushing them back because they were the invaders. We had the support of many in the area...even many of their own people.

This time we're the invaders, with no support from the UN...threating the future or the UN & world order, & very little support from the people or nations in the area.

Most in the area simply rather not have our presence there at all, no matter who's side we take. We are considered outsiders who don't belong there & shouldn't get involved.

Most Muslims will accept a live & let live attitude with us only if we stay off their soil & don't get involved in their affairs.

Then we assume that Iraq is like a wild animal who if we capture them, feed them, rub heir belly, offer them treats, & train them, they'll learn to like us, & do what we want. Not so. These are people...not dumb animals!

Although some of the greedy rulers are materialistic, unlike most Americans, most of the people in the mid-east are not. They are not easily convinced, cannot be bribed or bought, & will not give up their fundimental beliefs.

I'm not a passivist, & I love my country. This war is wrong, it won't work. It doesn't help an aready unstable part of the world, won't help our standing in the area or make more friends with us there. It will only hurt the war on terrorism.

Even if a prosperous democracy is established in Iraq, it will only hurt the USA & mid-east relations in the long term. Iraq will always be considered a puppet or slave to the USA...even by it's own people.

It seems republican policies are always too simplistic for complex problems...to get votes, & popularity but cannot possibly work. It's like the old "Reganomics" policy of giving the rich a break, & as they prosper, by "trickle down effect" everyone else will get richer...as history showed, it didn't work & couldn't work...it was a ploy for votes & popularity-an excuse for always favoring the rich.

The rich pocketed the surplus, & the economy continued to spiral downward. The policy is in effect again, under a different name. It's like a broken record that keeps repeating itself.

If you look at history, the biggest economic growth in the past 20 years, happened when we did not have a republican president. The economy took off when smaller businesses & people got a break, creating more fair competition, forcing the big guys to invest more & work harder to compete.

Don't you think it's ironic that the economy & stock market took a nose dive the very day it was confirmed Bush won the election, & has continued to spriral downward ever since? Those silly coincedeces!

The "Democracy Domino effect" is not only too simplistic, The concept of this plan, now that it's been made public, has got to get mid-easterners pissed off at us, or at least scare the hell out of them. They view it as an attempt to turn the entire mid-east into puppet nations of the USA, & will resist more than ever. They have no desire to be like or manipulated by the USA.

With all the options we had, this war is the worst half-baked plan I ever saw, & am shocked that so many eductated Americans are giving their approval. The only thing I can think of is like our president, they know very little about mid-east affairs & attitude of the people there.

Sure we'll probably win the war, but made to many enemies doing it to make it worth while.
