Subject: What is it?

I have seen this twice since I've been doing nails. Once 5 yrs ago when I first started (natural nails - came in with condition before I touched her...) and now. I don't know what it is. My client's toe nails have a whitish discoloration on some of them, I first noticed during the first pedicure I did on her AFTER another tech's pedi. on her. Is it a fungal infection or just dehydration? It is not going away and I have been unsuccessful so far in talking the client into going to the doctor. She also has bunions and had planned on going to the doc. 2 months ago. I was so excited she was going and told her have him look at this and at your big ugly toenail that's deformed and in between your toes and find out if THAT'S just chafing or WHAT. Now I was very nice and polite about how I really said all these things to her but that doesn't make the story as interesting for you to read. Anyway, I also don't know exactly what athelete's foot looks like which she probably doesn't have ( from the lame discription in my textbook and lame "drawing" in textbook) but I would really like to know for sure if it is or isn't. BTW, her toes are soooo squished up in her shoes you have to really pry her toes apart to see in between. It's really grossing me out and making it difficult for me to be professional about the situation when all I want to do is scream EEEEWWWWWW!!! Get out of here! Whew, had to say it here so I wouldn't say it there. Please help me...what is all this stuff??? Melissa
