Subject: Smoked Squash?

My big Thanksgiving cook is gonna come a week later than most, as we have Denise's family over next Sunday for dinner. I'm gonna do a turkey smoked over pecan and maybe some pulled pork as a second meat, but it was the veggie portion of dinner that I have a question about. Was gonna do up some squash ahead of time, during the week, and then either freeze or hold in the fridge til Sunday. Was wondering if anyone has tried doing squash in a bbq/smoker and giving it a bit of smoke? If so, any preferred methods or smoke wood? It just strikes me that squash (and yams/sweet 'tators for that matter) would take smoke well. Don't want to make everything 'smoked', but just seems like this might be a nice change from the usual Thanksgiving squash. Any ideas?
