I am 48 yrs old, and I have severe dyslexia. My wife is typing this for me. I can read to a 5th or 6th grade level, but my spelling is really bad. I have had problems all my life with literacy, but have pushed myself through years with Literacy Volunteers to get where I am now. I would like to go to college as well, but have been told I need a 9th grade reading level at least. There is a school in Vermont, Landmark College, who will take me at the level I am now, but they are very expensive. We're talking about 40,000 a year. Anyway, I still look for things to improve my reading and comprehension. I went to a demonstration of a software called Read and Write Gold. This software sounds fantastic! If you Google it, you will find it. I just want you to know that there are differing degrees of severity, and it sounds like you are blessed to have a manageable degree of severity. To get to 3rd year without a diagnosis is something I would be happy to live with. I wish you luck with the rest of your studies, and don't let a diagnosis get in your way.
