Hi... I'm a freshman at Brown University this fall, and I've lately noticed that i'm having some problems regarding testing. I went to talk to my chem professor, who knows that I fully understand the material as i've visited him during office hours. However, i'm completely failing my exams, and he suggested that I may have dyslexia, which was something that i've never considered until I went to a few websites today. When I was three, I had many language processing problems and I was "speech impaired", although they dropped this diagnosis in 4th grade and I was placed into the "talented and gifted" program in 5th grade. It appeared that I had grown out of this problem, although I had many testing issues - discrepencies between my test grades versus what i actually "know" ... especially on the SAT verbal section (although my math score was pretty high since that's always been my strong point). But during tests, I have a lot of trouble comprehending the questions or even just thinking - my thoughts become very fragmented. I've also noticed other symptoms such as zoning out, sometimes being seen as hyper, mixing up letters within words as i read, write, or speak, and other things as well. I've just always scored relatively high academically, although I still thought that I knew even "more" than what those high numbers revealed. For a long time, i've felt that grades don't reflect my knowledge, and now it's causing problems for me in college, especially in chemistry and I plan to be pre-med and my grades aren't going to be sufficient for my future. This whole situation has just been very upsetting and frustrating for me since I can't understand exactly what is "wrong." Does anyone have any suggestions about how I should go about this issue since I don't want grades to be the downfall of my existence!! How can I accomodate to this problem within a college atmosphere? Feel free to email me at WRM9286@aol.com

Hi I am a 24 year old college student and I have just been diagnosed with dyslexia. Although my Mother, Brother and Sister have all known for may years that they have dyslexia, my school refused to test me. they said that as i did not show signs of dyslexia, even though i constantly got things wrong, such as spelling and gramma, there was no point in wasting time, as i was just a bit of a slow learner, my guess is they thought there was no point in wasting money to have someone tested that probably wouldn't go far in life anyway. It was only when i felt like i need something more challenging in my life other than a borning job in a chip shop, that i jion the local college and started an access course, that my dyslexia was picked up, my college tutors decided to test me, as my work was not up to standard. I am now receiving some help, all beit once aweek, I would really like other dyslexic's to share their copeing stratages with me. thanks for taking the time to read this and if you have any advice then please share it with me. Yvonne

Hi Lousie, It was a shame you had a grump of an essessor, but put it aside and move on. As for writing long essays and reading I have some encouragment. I have just completed a degree in a Animation, and it was during this time I was diagnosed Dyslexic where I had been encouraged to leave the course as my academic writing was that bad. I was lucky that I was getting top marks for my film work which allowed for the suspicion. I never got great marks for my essays and they frustrated the hell out of me, tears, temper tamtrums, flinging of books. For my disseration which was in my final year 8,000 to 10,000 words I won't lie, it was one of the hardest things I have ever, ever done. But I did it. I picked a subject that I was keen on, I did a lot of visual research (which is encouraged if your dyslexic)I had one hour tutorials a week which you are entitled too (UK) and I got top 15 in my year...and I was very proud of myself. At the beginning I had convinced myself that I couldn't do it, but with support I did, and I wrote over a 10,000 words...and so can you!

hi, I am new to this forum.
Actually I have a problem organizing things...I am pretty bad at it. At times I perform things to their best, probably better than anyone. But again, at times I lose things and mess them up as if I knew nothing, which usually happens, when everything is about to end say anything, things include seminars, speaking, presenytations, official work, sometimes even cooking. I dont how to start coping with it....in fact I want to do it myself.

My dyslexic niece is temporarily living near me doing work experience but has to write a long essay while she is here. She has a computer provided by the local education authority in her home town, but I am lending her a laptop while she is here. It occurred to me it would help if she could use voice recognition software to speak the essay direct to the machine - has anyone got any recommendations please? I would like to buy her something if it's not too expensive.

Hi, im 18 and go to college (UK, im not at Uni yet) and im studying for my a-levels. I had a Dyslexia test during yr 10, about 2 years ago, and another more recently and both said i was mildly dyslexic. I have no problems with spelling and i can write reasonably well if speed is not important, but i find trouble with essay writing (i gave up a subject because i had no idea how i could pass it - large exam essays/time) and other things. But what bothers me most is that i cant seem to get down to work, im so easily distracted and i cant focus for more than 10 minutes. I cant piece things together and then i get stressed and have to read pages over and over again, and sometimes i still get nowhere. Does anyone have advice for this or how to deal with it?
One more thing, i would like to know if can we get grades as good as other students. and one last thing... i have trouble remembering things, does anyone know how i can get round that.

Re: FREE PILOT SCHEME FOR ALL TYPES OF DYSLEXIA!

I don't know if this will be of interest to anyone with DYSLEXIA but I have found a website that is offering a revolutionary treatment for all types of dyslexia which is being done in a FREE PILOT SCHEME! They are based in London.

The guy who does these strange things is called Tony and it appears he has had success with dyslexia as far back as 1982 but didn't pursue things any further because he was just too busy treating many other conditions, such was the success of his amazing gift! He says it's just a powerful gift he has and he can't explain it. You can contact Tony direct by just phoning him on 079 15 35 94 50.

Have a look and see what you think. just visit: http://superenergy.freewebpage.org

Hi my name is jennifer, i am 23 and dyslexic and am currently in my final year of an English Literature degree (london, uk) I do have extra tutoring from the uni and have found ways of coping with dyslexia, and yet I still suffer from bouts of depression and anxiety regarding my academic capabilities (even though I do know, I am capable!) Also this is not helped by the complete lack of acknowlegedment and understanding from my course tutors. Bascially I want to have communication from people who are in the same boat as me and know what Im going through. It is all so frustrating and sometimes I feel Im cracking up! I know I'll get through this but it would be nice to have support from those who truly understand the problems that dyslexic face.

I am a graduate student who is currently working on my dissertation that involves the development of a new test that could be useful in early diagnosis of dyslexia as well as understanding this LD.

I need college students who have been officially diagnosed with dyslexia. I offer a reimbursement of $50.00 for about two hours of testing.

I have approached a number of universities, learning centers, placed adds on websites, ect and i am having almost no responses.

Can you please help me understand what the reason for this might be?

And do you have any suggestions in how i can be more succesful in reaching this population. Participating in the study is a significant contribution to helping our understanding and intervention of dyslexia.

Any input is highly appreciated.

Thank you so much,
Catharina Brandwijk

I am a dyslexic (medically documented) high school senior. I have complained since I was a freshman that foreign language was very hard for me and I was struggling with it because of my disability. I was very rudely treated (as if I was trying to "pull a fast one") and both the coordinator at my school and teacher said it has nothing to do with it.

I have had further testing that shows a direct link. I feel that I was treaded very badly, made to feel stupid, have failed and am retaking the class, and lastly I think my college acceptance was effected by the grades and seeing that I keep retaking the same class.

Do I have any recourse?

Hi, my husband suffers from dyslexia. Through hard work and dedication he qualified himself as enrolled nurse. He is enjoying his work, but more and more experience problems with completing of medical record cards. I need to find out if any protable technology is available that can enable him to dictate the nessecary information, and print lables which can then be pasted onto the medical cards. The required technology needs to be compact, small enough for him to carry it around in his pocket and it must enable him to print a label right there next to the patient's bed. Please indicate if such aids are available and how I can get hold of it.

Thank you.

Hello, I am making a web based browser for dyslexia that lets you surf the web eith your own font and background colour. It's web based so you can use it from any pc.

I need some people to fill in an online survey for me. Just to find out peoples font and colour preferences.

The survey is at
http://www.pelius.com

There is also a link to the browser as it is. It's designed for browsing text content pages and doesn't work very well with some web site ( one problem can be too many drop down menus ). Anyway feel free to use it and let me know what you think. If you have a chance to fill in the survey that would be great.
Thankyou

I have a friend with dyslexia, i have heared a lot from her about how she is treated unfairly. She has had two instructors i know of that have told her litteraly to leave their class because they didnt want to have to deal with her, that she was too stupid to be in their class. She is trying to go into EKU, as far as i know she has never gotten any accomidations for her dyslexia. Recently her gpa dropped below 2.0. The class that did this she had on her tests 3 c's and an F. she does her school work and gets passing grades and she has been given an f for that class. That doesnt add up to me at all. She feels like she cant argue the grade because that instructor is the dean of the socialogy dept. for the past 5 semesters she has been fighting a loosing battle with instructors about her performance, her dyslexia being ignored. She is at the point of giving up. She trys so hard it saddens and angers me to see this happen to her. Is there anything at all that can be done to help her. I cant think of anything myself. Please if anyone can help me respond to this post. Thank you.

Like you i am a 3rd year student in psychology. I study at murdoch uni in Western Australia.I was diagnosised with servere dyslexia when i was 24, 3 years. Of course I alway knew I had it. I just need to get enough self worth before finding out what was quite obvious.I know how you feel. I too have put in the wrong numbers and not relised that I have done it until my correlation comes out wrong. It is so frustrating ha, you feel like you are doing so much work thatn everybody else. And you are , your not just imagining which makes things worse. The only solution that I have found that helps a little is checking and re-checking. Also if you can find a learning and education centre at your uni. I have found that the extra tutoring has helped some what. And the people work there have more time than you your lecture and tutor to help you.I am good at maths but i suck at stats. The way they ask the questions are confusing and I find it hard to deconstruct it, and then find out what they are asking for , so i can calutlated it. Do you find the some problem?
Just do your best, I have faith in you.
Good luck . I have my stat exam in 4 weeks so I should get back it.

Hi,

I am the current president of the Council for students with Disabilities at Michigan State University. I am dyslexic myself and of the 1,000 registered students with disabilities at MSU about half or more are dyslexic. Mainly my organization trys to educate the university on Disability issues, work to improve our accessibility, and act as a support group for people trying to get accomodations. I have found that students with LD are the lowest average of people however in our group which doesn't make much sense to me. Does anyone work with a disability rights organization at your college any advice? Why do you think that people with learning disabilities seem less likely to fight for accomodations?

hi
does any one have links on lack of any early reading and dyslexia?
I have dyslexia. I have had no special help. growing up I only read what I had to very little.
and now I am able to read the bible with the same understanding and speed as green eggs and ham.
I tend to focus on the text and not the story(not a good thing) when I try not to sound out loud each word in my head and just focus on the story I can't do it for more then 30 seconds allthuo I read the page at a rate 10 times it gives me a killer headack
its alot eaiser to do it with books that are at a second grade level I am wondering before I take the time to Fill myself in on all the kid books I never read. as to focus on the story not on the words and develep that pattern in my brain will it help me at all?

Hey there,
I just thought that i would visit this web site as i was told about it today after my dyslexia test which needed an update. I noticed one thing in my test which had dramatically improved since the last and i used the following technique. I thought that it might assist some with simular problems. I found that my short term memory for numbers was really poor. I pictured a telephone keypad in my head and then when the numbers are read to me i pictured dialing them. What i found in my test is that i was even able to recite the number backwards. This was due to being able to see the pattern that the number made on the keypad in my head. It's the image of the numbers being pressed and the pattern it makes (eg: 713264 would be corner corner corner triangle).
Hope this helps some of you as it has me.
Craig

I have a 16 year old Junior that is college bound but is struggling with math. He is dyslexic and has attention deficit. I have had him tested recently and he score in the 98%ile for math reasoning and in the 58%ile for basic calculations. He is currently taking Algebra 2/trigonometry and can figure the problems out in his head and get the correct answer most of the time but is required to show his work. This is where the problem is: he gets lost on the paper and has poor attention to detail. For spelling being able to use the computer so that he did not have to think about how the letters were formed made all the difference in the world and I feel that being able to type in equations and work them on the computer would be a big help for math as well. Has anyone had experience with this problem and had success in dealing with it? Is there software available that will allow him to input and do the work on the computer without having to learn all the idiosyncrasies of excel or other such programs? We would greatly appreciate any help you can give us, Thanks!

Hello!
I am a 17 year old high school senior. I am knee deep in the college application prosess. I have overcome a lot with my dyslexia in the reading department. I can now read better and with more comprehension then my teachers, but dyslexia is still a force to be reconded with in my life.
The college processing is really demadinding especially because I can't spell to save my soul. I was wondering if anyone knew of scolarships that could helpe me out. Our just in geneal how does dyslexia affect the life of a college student. I still fell sort of ashamed to having a learing, well lets say difference. DOes anyone know how i should include my dyslexia in the college application process? Anything at all would help me.
thanks so much

Hello,

I have dyslexia in a way that greatly affects reading and writing, and I feel that no matter how much I try I cannot get the accommodations that I need for my learning disability for a university level classical Greek language course at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. The problem that I am having with self-advocacy is becoming so bad that recently when I asked for more than one day to do a difficult classical Greek translation assignment for a class taught by Doctor Fredric Williams my instructor addressed the class asking if my accommodation was reasonable. I do not know how to advocate for reasonable accommodations when an instructor is as powerful and unwilling to compromise as Doctor Williams is.

When I approach the university departments about my problem, the departments do not appear to do anything that is helpful. I made a web sight about my feelings, letters, and university correspondence regarding the subject. The link for the web sight appears below.

Please help me my evaluating my web sight and offering suggestions.

Thank you,

Let me first clarify, I am not a doctor, but my granddaughter has dyslexia. I have written one very extensive piece from observing her and making considerations, based on that.

From that and all the other surrounding date, I believe that it all comes down to Dyslexics learning to balance everything, both mentally and physically, to succeed. Many of you will most definately accell in very specific fields, so I would say to you, choose well and then target your learning and preperation, in that direction. In life, it is all about selling yourself, when it gets right down to it, well, at least from what little I know of life.

If I can be of any help, please feel free to ask. If nothing else, you may get a good laugh at my expense.

Be well.

Hello I am making a way to browse the web from any pc with your own page format settings ( you can set text ( size / colour / font ) background ( colour ) highlight ( let you
highlight page line by line with rollover )). I'm making a quick survey of peoples colour preferences. If you follow the link below you can set some sample text in the style you like. Then all you need to do is paste your choice into the email form and send them through to me. If you could take the time to do this I would be really grateful. I have suspected that my oldest daughter has dyslexia since she was about 5. She is now 18 and about to enter college. I have always avoided having her officially diagnosed because I wanted to avoid any stigma, but I now believe it is time to change that. I will give some history in a minute, but let me start with a question: Where do I go, or to whom do I go to get her tested and to get an official diagnosis? The university she will be attending will make accommodations (the only accomodation is additional time on timed tests) if she has an "official" diagnosis.

History: In kindergarten, she was very excited about reading and language, but as soon as she actually started reading she became very discouraged and had great difficulty learning to read. To this day she is an extremely slow reader. Her spelling is AWFUL. She is capable of mispelling the same word in four different ways in the same paragraph. She is incredibly tenacious. Despite the slow pace at which she reads, she graduated high school a member of the national honor society, and received numerous academic scholarships. Her math scores on the SAT were in the top 1% for women, but her verbal scores were in the 50% range. After reviewing the analysis of her scores I realized that she had only answered about half of the questions in the reading section. Her accomplishment has been by sheer force of will. She studies harder, but mostly LONGER than any of her peers. When she received reading assignments in high school, she would be up until very late for days or weeks at a time in order to complete them. She has been admitted to a very competitive program, biomedical engineering, at the University of Cincinnati. I know (as an engineer, myself) that the program she is in will be challenging for everyone, but fear that her slow pace of reading may be an insurmountable challenge if she is not given some accommodation.

Any information about where or how to go about having her tested, or any other comments would be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to email or call if that is more convenient for you.
Thanks in Advance,
Dan Dixon

It seems strange to say that I have been discontinued from a course that is supposed to promote caring. I refer to a Mental health course in the department of nursing at a University in Manchester. I was discontinued from a course six weeks from the end for failing a research assignment. Tutors considered support to be bullying and critisising and instructing me to go and read books about research, I find research as a foriegn language and have difficulty understanding it completely. so to say read a book seems a bazzaar instruction under the circumbstances, and as such I don't feel I got the support that I deserved. My situation has caused a vast response in support of my problem many feel that I have been discriminated against and should seek compansation.but all I want is the qualification that I deserve which in this case is a diploma in mental health nursing. Why should I not fight for my rights and let them discontinue me from the course for being dyslexic?
I was told that I may have to do the course again but need to be secondered. This is not so easy I need to be in the right place at the right time for this. This requires a drop in wages that I can't afford as I have a wife and four children to support.

I'm 18 years old and have always had a problem distinguishing left from right. It never really occured to me that it was a problem until recently when I have been trying to prepare from my driving test. So I got on the interent and started typing in searchwords. I came across a number of sites and found many on dyselxia. What I was surprised to find was the number of things to look for. I cannot read the time off any clock unless it's digital, I always mix up numbers. When reading outloud I always have trouble reading the words and saying them correctly even though I know them. Sometimes I write words backwards, instead of "now" I'll write "won" and vice versa, even when I'm speaking I jumble up words. I am horrible at math and could not complete an equation if my life depended upon it. The only thing is I'm really good at english adn have never had a problem. Is there a possibility that I'm dyslexic?

I've been working for some time with a dyslexic student who has made a lot of progress in many areas of his English study. However, his major trouble is with revision - he reads back what he thinks he wrote when composing sentences and essays, and doesn't notice his mistakes. If pointed out to him, he can correct them at once, and when tested on spelling words alone, he manages very well. As he reaches his later years of schooling, this is becoming more of a problem when in exam situations.
I'd love to hear any suggestions anyone could offer for helping him in this.

Many thanks, Kim

H, I'm new to this so I don't know really where to start. I'm 16years old and in the last while I have started to wonder if I'm dyslexic. Even though I have never had trouble spelling, my reading in the last while, though still really good, I've started seeing words wrong and mixing up sentances when looking at a book, but this is still infrequent. Mainly what it is is,I came accross a web site stating signs of dyslexia and it described the personality, the way a dyslexic person thinks and there mind works and other signs and it seemed to be almost like myself exactly. I'm wondering if maybe it didnt devolp untill my teens since then everything about me seemed to develop these signs of dyslexia, however mildley or severely. could it just be mild dyslexia or something else? Maybe it was that I luckily got such a good foundation in english as a child?
When I saw these symptoms it came as such a relief that I had finally idnetifies why I was different to most people and felt calm but then the thoughts of maybe I was wrong came into my head. I've reached a point now that I really need to know if it is or it isnt to have some peace of mind.

Thank you a lot for reading this post and for your help.

I have 9 year old twins (Boy & Girl)with dyslexia, and they are approching the State assessment test. They recently took the practice test and did not do very well. One (the boy) scored a 44 on reading & 55 on math and the other (girl)scored a 46 on reading & 58 on math. I am very concerned that they will not pass the test that will be taken in the spring. My son says things like; I read slow and I will have to repeat the 3rd grade if I don't pass the TASK test. My daughter seems to be doing alot better than my son, and she is not worried, about the test as much.
I was reading Dot's Diary and I came across a section where she stated that there was a computer program that read the state assessment test out loud (through headphones) the test was taken on-line. I would like to know what type of program this was and where I can get more information. If anyone can help I would appreciate it. Thanks A concerned mother.

Hi there. Dr. Laurie Cestnick is conducting clinical evaluations for persons with potential dyslexia here in MA. She is a scientist at Harvard and M.I.T. and a world authority on dyslexia. Apparently she is doing clinical evaluations out of a clinic in Fitchburg called North Worcester Psychological Consultants and most medical insurance covers the cost of the evaluation. If you want to be tested by one of the best, I highly recommend her. I went to China to hear her speak at the Rodin Academy Conference (a prestigious dyslexia conference where world-leaders tell us the latest about dyslexia research findings) and people were talking about how happy they were that she was taking her knowledge into clinical settings. Just thought I'd share that. I looked up the number at NWPC, it is 978-342-4344

Did you know, the dyslexic reads from a different area of the brain? The average reader reads from the lower back area. The dyslexic reads from the frontal area where speech is formed. This was proven by MRI's of the readers.Next, did you know a dyslexic has overdeveloped periperal vision. This makes it difficult to focus to center and then read left to right. This also makes it difficult to concentrate. To prove this, roll a paper into a funnel, read one word at a time. The dyslexic has impaired depth perception as well. Dyslexia is a physical problem and needs to be treated as one. If all this makes sense to you, please respond. I have more answers!

Hello,

I am currently doing a graphic design degree and am researching for my disitation of which i am doing on dyslexia and students, and its associations with being creative. I've been reading up on and looking at lots of websites to do with the subject and was wondering if anyone had any information and what your thoughts are etc etc. I would really appreciate your help!

Also, funnily enough throught reading up on the subject, i think that I may be dyslexic myself as the difficulty with reading and spelling has always been tough, my short term memory is completely off this planet, and I get loads of things muddled up- left, right, salt, pepper, etc... always see things as the 'whole' and constently put different words into sentences than what realistically makes sence(dyspraxia?)I have somehow been able to develop various strategies to help with this though.) I think I'll be getting a test done when i return to uni as if i was diagnosed this could prove to be very helpful for my 3rd and final year.

Hi i was wondering what everyone thought, as it has been worring me recently. i was doing my geography coursework , u know the ten thousand word sort of stuff and everthing was going great or so i thought. My dyslexic geography teacher -who is immense by the way suggested that due to my poor sentence structure - consistantly throughout the whole project, my auful spelling when writing and my lack in picking up his misakes that i could be a dyslexic. he also noticed that i mix up p's and b's commonly and m and w occasionly. The he said what about ur english i said all A* ecept da one where u test spelling and puntuation and grammer which i got unusualy low marks on. So could this be it ??? are there any courses ot guide books to help this cos i dont have a clue.Thanxs to any1 who answers

Thanks to all who took part and kindly helped me with this subject matter. I will try to post the result of this project in a summary version as the final version was very in depth and had some complex results.
It is fair to say that I was encouraged by the help from this forum.
Thank you.

I am a student at Nottingham Trent University in England.

I am currently working on my disertation which is aimed at dealing with the problems dyslexic sufferers encouter whilst using the internet. This will hopefully lead to a tool that will be able to provide some assistance whilst searching, viewing, analysing and comprehending the textual content of the web pages.

I would be interested to hear of the most common problems that people encouter whilst using the internet and how such a tool would help benefit users.

Any other opinions and views on the way web sites are designed with people with dyslexia or learning difficulties in-mind would be very welcome.

Thankyou for your help.

Hi,

One of my fellow students has dyslexia, and as we regularly get together in groups for study sessions, I was wondering what we could do to assist him to get the most out of these sessions? Does anyone have any suggestions/advice/want to share their experiences on this?

Thank you.

My son is in his sophomore year at a 4-year college. He has serious language learning disabilities...dyslexia...we are looking for one software program that will allow him to scan in text and have it read to him, and also a program that will help him write. Has anyone had any good experiences with software? He also wants to transfer to a smaller school for his junior year. Any suggestions? He's very interested in anthropology and photography.

I am a 21 year old and I can write in beautiful cursive but printing is another story. All through school I wrote in cursive once i learned. In college when I print I get told that my letters are backwards and the words dont make sence. I have a hard time copying words for words from boards and textbook. My reading is not so great either. I just don't understand. I mannaged to get through highschool being on the honnor society but i was also in mostly all special education classes throughout school. I was able to hide my reading problem in high school because I would never read out loud. I did tell mom and teachers a couple of times that reading is hard. When I had my 3 year re evaluation done, the doctor guy said that it doesn't look like a reading problem, it was only my memory that was a problem. i am attending a four year college and my english professor asked the class to write a writting sample at the last ten minutes of class. I felt rushed and knew I couldn't get extra time, so i quickly printed down what came to my mind and handed it in. I had an appoinment with the lady who runs the disability services to pick up my L.D.reports to give to my professors to inform them about my disability and on that day she told me that my english professor showed her my paper. I saw the paper and was so ashamed of my writting. We then set up a meeting with the three of us to discuss accomondations. I am now doing better but why didn't anyone during my school years pick up this problem? How do I find out if I do have dyslexia?

I work full time in an office and the bus/train journey to/from work is also stressfull and so by the time I get home I am really tired. I just find everything to be too much pressure, any help or advice would be appreciated.

Last night my 17 year old, college-bound daughter was reading "Song of Myself" aloud. She substituted the wrong polysylabic words for the ones in the text. Granted, the poem doesn't make sense in and of itself, but inserting the wrong words makes any text nonsensical. For example, substituting potholder for potato, "french fried potholders" doesn't make sense. My kid exhibited this exact same behavior when she was learning to read. 12 years later, the identical behavior survives, which is why i had the thought, "Is this a form of dyslexia?" Has my poor kid been struggling with dyslexia for the past 12 years? Please advise! thank you

My husband is going to college. We want to know what type of special grants, scholarships, etc. are available.
Also, when he takes a math course, is he able to get special help with the class other than tutoring?
Also, how would you get money to buy special equipment needed with his classes?
Thanks for the information,

Hi,

I have just recently found out that i have a mild form of dyslexia. However, the report was not a great help in studying for exams, as no recommedation where given on alternative ways to study.

Could please someone advise me on good study skills, when studying i seem to read a page then forget what i have read. I also find it hard to remember things. But my biggest problem is when note taking i seem to write out word for word and it take me 3hrs to write out a ch. I have heard mind mapping could be a good way for note taking, has anyone else got other recomendations.

I am doing home study so dont go to class at all. I am currently studying for CIMA, is anyone else studying for this and how do you manage it.
