I am currently 22 years old and was diagnosed with dyslexia in elementary school. I recieved a special education teacher who was able to teach me to read. My writing skills were never as severe as you describe but to this day when I am required to write long hand I still reverse individual letters within words, have chronic misspelling, frequently changing hand-writing and have a tendency to write down a word completely different from the one I say aloud or have heard, making note taking difficult. HOWEVER! I have discovered that almost all of these problem either diminish or disappear completely if I use a computer & no its not the spell check which ends up being unnecessary. The knowledge is already in my hands and mind but for some reason I am only able to use it through a computer keyboard.
