You asked:
Does anyone know it this is part of dyslexia or another LD?

YES! Dyslexia is a language based disability and it affects every aspect of language.. writing, speaking and definitely reading. Try to find all the info documenting this that you can lay your hands on and present it to the Dean of your university.

I've tried taking American Sign Language at two different colleges and had to drop both times. As soon as I finish a summer class I'm currently taking I plan on arranging a meeting with the "powers that be" at my school and ask for either a wave for foreign language or taking alternative classes for foreign language requirements. It took me 13 years and a private school for dyslexics to learn to read English which is my native language so I can't imagine I would have any better luck with a foreign language!!

Anyway, sending you lots of good luck and vibes. Hope they can work something out. (like you I'm close to graduating (thankfully!).. but it's been a long haul)
