Hi There!

I am a dyslexic who has extremely similar traits to your son. I was borderline diagnosed when I was 9. Unfortunately due to my very high verbal communication and English abilities I wasn't granted extra time.
I went through my GCSE's without any extra time or support at all and still achieved all 10.

I too struggle with my spelling when writing long pieces of work. At GCSE i dedcided not to take a foreign language purely to concentrate on my other subjects and not to cause confusion.

It is possible to be dyslexic without having the so called "normal" traits. I have very unique ones such as servere short term memory loss, sequencing, organisation and basic number work.

I am now nearly at the end of sixth form college where I am now entitled to extra time. I have battled my whole educational life so support and in further education it is granted with no questions asked.

I achieved very good GCSE results and now I am doing English language at A level and again I'm doing well.
There are smiliar children in the same situation as yourself and I am one of them. My mum pushed for support in schools however I was too "clever" to receive it. Never stop trying to reach what you want and always make sure your child is settled.

Feel free to email me if you would like to know further about anything I've experienced. :)
Its great to read about someone who has a similar situation to myself.
