I am very impressed that you are reaching out to help this student. We need to look at several factors that may be interfering: Organization? Math? Reading? visual discrimination on the paper? But don't worry, something can be done? Is he getting free Learning disability services available at the school? If he has a current IEP from high school (3 years) Then support should also be available. Anyway, some ideas might be to see what happens on the old fashion graph paper, or budget sheets. Assessing the math and organizations. May need to highlight or color code the columns. From there , you can still keep colors on the computer using font colors or pens microsoft has awesome free accessories for disabilities including font size and color backgrounds . It can be very helpful for visually impaired as well as learning disabilites. (see Irlene syndrome) Some students just use color sheets from office max to help them read better. Change background colors etc etc. Black on white is actually the worst to read. There is more.. try www.about.com and www.elementk.com for megapractice on technology practice and also www.microsoft.com for accommodation downloads. free of course. narrators, and colors, etc
