hi my name is alyson
I have two boys that have dyslexia. The first one never slept and suffered with exma. He grew up shy and seemed never to achieve at anything:but we still loved him so much. Now he is 13 and top of his science and computer class. He is great at his English if you do not take note of his spellings. This is due to us buying a laptop for him. His confidence has risen steadily and he talks of concepts of science as his second language. Its great even though i don't understand him (science wasn't my best subject) I don't understand why schools in england are so strict on handwriting when there is an obvious problem. Are second child is 8 and we don't worry about him at all. We know he will achieve when the time is ready for him. I can remeber trying to get my oldest to learn his spelling and write his sentences. my youngest just works on his computer. This ensures that his well-being and self esteem is positive. I hope this is of some use. It was great writing it because three years ago i felt he was heading for depression and anxiety difficulties. Parenting is difficult and especially when its a dyslexic child but it is really worth it when you get things right.
