I am a mother of a dyslexic teen who is now a 4.0 student! We have been through so much, tutors, vision therapy.......

We have an educational therapist we use that has been the key to it all (northern CA) She uses a book called Reading Reflex by Carmen McGuiness, also explode the code has been great.

Having a calm environment is key in testing and everything. Don't even call it 'testing' it's just another piece of classwork.....we found that oral testing was best for my daughter. We also found that if small 'tests' could be given where the student could get a 100% over and over again they build self-confidence and don't fear the test so much. For example, I started giving my daughter 'tests' on things she knew well, like the movie we went to see on the weekend......or her friends.......they were fun and built confidence.

I am also convinced that part of our daughters success came from ice skating......somehow the spinning, the left foot right foot coordination, etc linked something in her brain.
