hi...
im hanna, im 18 years old, at present i am prepping for my A level exams, hopefully ill be going to uni in september!
i have only just been diagnosed dyslexic last month, althought ive been conserned since i was 11 years old and just started high school.
i spoke to nerours teachers, i went to the doctour to voice my concers and ask for test to be done, i even spoke to my own pearents who all said i was been silly, i wasnt concentrating/trying hard enought, i wasn't dyslexic. how wrong they all were!
i had to get through my GCSE's and AS levels with no help or extra time. i was 100% possertive i was dyslexic months before i took my gcse's. so i made sure i started revising, as much as i hated it and still do, i did lots of diffrent revision, mind maps, flash card, diagrams and picture, recorded my own voice reading my notes aloud. i continued this method at A level, and they worked.
i guss what im trying to say is that with a little ditermination and creativity, weather your getting help or doing it on your own preperation for exams and essays can be done in a way you find best, and althought it may take you longer to come up with a final essay for course work or exams this way youll come out with satisfiying results.
so start your preperation of unconventially, use pictures ect... what ever helps you best but do it before time runs out. it does't all have to be long writen note which most dyslexics like my self fear.
just trust yourself and keep pushing your self to new limits, it feels good proving peopple wrong, those of you who have been told that your dyslexia will hold you back and have deen made to fell stupid and worthles, show them that your not! and for those of you who are in my situation, who fear they are dyslexic, fight for your right to be tested, and try new ways of learning, you only have yourself to help!
dyslexic people are not sloew, we are not stupid, we are talneted/gifted people who learn in diffrent ways
and im passionate about help other dislexic people realising thier full potential!
hanna X
