I am a student at the University of Hawaii and there are many options when it comes to colleges. I would say that all colleges have a program to help students with disabilities. Even when I went to a community college there were programs that were helpful to people with learning disabilities. When you go to visit a college campus the most important thing is to talk to a advisor. When discussing a plan for your academics these are the people to talk to about information on programs that address students with disabilities. Not only is it mandatory by the government for grades 1-12 to have a program for students with special needs but it is also necessary for state run colleges and universities to have these programs. Not only is it mandatory but the college gets money form the government to provide these programs. The one here has a secure test taking facility along with many other features like early registration, counseling, and many others. We also have a student support group for students with disabilities, they meat on Fridays, I work on Fridays, so I don’t get to attend the group.
