Somewhere, buried far back in his uncoscious mind, the real Ryu watched 'his' actions from a rather interesting 3rd person view, like watching TV. He knew physical attacks wouldn't work, but the force now in control didn't seem to realize that. It just wanted to give them a whole lot of hurt.
The picture the real Ryu was watching shifted as his body turned it's head, watching Raziel's brave but useless attack on one of the monsters. He didn't know how, but the force controlling his body seemed to identify Raziel as a stealer of souls. Probably because this new force was a lot more magic based. At any rate, trying to suck a soul from one of those lava monsters, he realized, would be akin to a mosquito trying to suck blood from a mummy. There isn't anything there.

Ryu noticed the ineffectiveness of his attack, and decided, if you want to call it that, to try a different approach. A small orb of magic formed in a clawed hand. The orb was quickly crushed, turning into a fine dust, which flew around the lava monsters, surrounding each in a barrier.
Inside each barrier, all air was sucked out, and all heat was zapped away as the atmosphere was replaced with the cold vacuum of space.
