Subject: Riding Nevi

I go to the tack room and get Nevi's halter lead rope and his tack. Nevi nickers to me as I open his stall door and I slip the halter over his nose. He stands patiently. I lead him out and hook the cross tyes on to his halter. I pick his hooves and go lightly over him with a soft brush. I get a square pad and place it gently on his back. I get my saddle and place it on his back. He sidesteps slightly at the sudden weight of the saddle but calmes down. I hook the girth up and go to get the bridle. I get his bridle and unlcip him from the croos tyes. He takes bit and I do up the throatlatch and noseband. I lead him out to arena and he begins to trot I pull back on him and tell him whoa. Hes obviously excited. I tighten my girth and pull my stirrups down. I lead him up to the mounting block and I get on. He walks calmly to the rail looking like a perfect hunter. After about 2 1/2 laps I cue him to the trot. He obeys and begins a lovely trot. I ask him to collect and he does a beutiful collected trot. I trot him about 8 laps tracking both left and right. I begin to sit the trot and cue him into the canter. He responds with a beautiful canter. I canter him about 4 laps doing small 10 and 20 meter cirles I then ask him to canter dow the diagonal of the arena and cue him into a flying lead change. He does this with ease and beuaty. I canter him again for another 4 laps and ask for the walk. He was great on the flat. I let him walk about 6 laps and then cue him into the trot for a low 1'6 vertical. He does it very nicely we go over it about 4 times and eah time looks just as good as the last. I canter him to it and he perks his ears at it and acts excited I slow him up and up canters it great. I then circle and begin a course. Its a small 8 jump course. All the jumps are set at 2'6. He does the course great!! I do the same course about 2 times and ask somebody to raise the jumps. The jumps are now at 3' we do the same course and he looks the best hunter in the world. We go to the last jump (the best) and he jumps it like it was a little X with his knees up and square and his head low and freeflowing. Finally I raise all the jumps to 4'3 he jumps the whole course like it was still 1' and he does it with such beauty I walk him anf let him cool out. Nevi was GREAT today!!!
