I know EXACTLY what sort of 'other' Christians there are out there . . . believe me. I know. Those that name-call don't accomplish anything. I wish they'd realise that.
Yes, Christians make trouble, but so do Atheists. You can't possibly say that they are completely innocent. Just the facts, Max. (Yes! I KNOW your name is Jim!!! I'm not that stupid, you know? :)
I'm not so sure if YOU wouldn't be trying to convert ME to Atheism. So, with two sides of the balance, I choose the opposite side. After all: " You've got to stand for something, or else you're going to fall for anything."
I see believing in God as being in no conflict with my rational side.
As Francis Bacon (main founder of the modern 'scientific method') once said: "There are two books laid before us to study, to prevent our falling into error; first the volume of the Scriptures which reveal the will of God; then the volume of the Creatures, which express His power."
An even better quote . . . Blaise Pascal (early Philosopher & mathematician, father of the science of 'hydrostatics' & one of the founders of 'thermodynamics', developer of the barometer) once said: "How can anyone lose who chooses to become a Christian? If, when he dies, there turns out to be no God and his faith was in vain, he has lost nothing - in fact, he has been happier in life than his non-believing friends. If, however, there IS a God and a heaven and a hell, then he has gained heaven and his skeptical friends will have lost everything in hell."
Well, that's about it for now. Tat-ta!
