Subject: Belgian beer in Walthamstow

There is very little Belgian beer in Walthamstow pubs. It's hardly what your'e looking for but The William IV [High Rd.]near the Bakers Arms still does Leffe Blond on draught and for a while did the Brune too (both now £2 a glass) and it has a draught tap that currently serves strawberry Fruli (previously Czech Gambrinus, Loewenbraeu (sorry, no umlauts in plain text) Original among others). Just round the corner, in Lea Bridge Road, The Drum has bottled Leffe Blonde £1.85.
In Walthamstow village The Nags Head does indeed do Hoegaarden as well as a Fruli fruit beer on tap and a small selection of Belgian bottled fruit beers but, alas, not a Belgian Ale of any other kind in sight at the last count.
Even the off-licence, in Grove Road, that did supply a handful of exotic beers, has changed hands and the current owner is one of those that thinks Anauser Bush Bud is the last word in beers (in a way I suppose it is - definitely the last)
