I think you'll find that this is because they're brewed by Interbrew, who already do this to Stella Artois. Best to stick to the smaller, independant breweries if your want Belgium-brewed beer! I also believe that Affligem (now owned by Heineken) are also dropping the ABV of their blonde to concur with perceived British tastes, in an attempt to capture some market share from Interbrew.
