And Birkoff is the only one of our main six who wasn't canonically married.

Could Birkoff have married? He was the only one of the six who, presumably, was never declared legally dead, yet I imagine his birth was never legally registered, either. Can someone who doesn't legally exist be legally married?

Just a psssing thought.

In the piece I'm working on now (okay, I'm not really working on it; I've been blocked for months), it's post-series, and a teenaged Adam is bitter about his illegitimacy when he learns of his "true" identity. Michael responds that *nothing* he has done has been "legitimate" since he was declared legally dead.

Dead men can't commit adultry, can they?
