I have no idea what you mean by "held accountable for." How do you mean, and by whom?

The question I was answering was whether there was any ethical issue that should have troubled him. My answer is yes, but it's the manipulation of Elena into a completely false life that ought to cause guilt, not whether or not he was sexually unfaithful to her. And although he may not have had a choice in his behavior, I think as a human being he still ought to recognize the ethical problems of what he was forced to do (and I think his behavior showed that he did in fact recognize this and *was* bothered by it).
