I'm with Jaybee. It's hard to admit to one's fannish activities when the primary image of fans is rather extreme.

And also I agree with Chgo about the fannish art. I'm all for people expressing their creativity - and as I'm completely and totally unartistic, I'm in awe of the gorgeous fanart out there - but ewwwwwwwww... HobbitSlash on the cover of the Reader? ::shudder::
