I remember someone (in delle's flist, IIRC) narrating their experience of posting Michael/Birkoff in some mailing list (or was it storyboard?) - it wasn't a great experience. It could've been an isolated incident, but given the attitude of a lot of the fans even *now*... I don't know. Heck, even the *HP fandom* wasn't very open to slash before the slashers went and carved some space out for themselves (in 2001, with the Veelas, I think).
