And yet another way in which you strive to save the LFN treasures for us to read. Thank you doesn't quite seem enough.

Just my idea, would it be possible to save all the stories, then post on the LFN storyboards a list of authors whose permission you don't have and give them a time limit (2-3 months perhaps) in which to let you know if they object to the archiving?

That might save you a lot of work in trying to locate those authors, and would be a public notice.
