sounds like Jack is quite an athletic multi-tasker.

little league is a trip. we saw 'kicking and screaming' [a kids movie with will ferrel] and we laughed pretty hard.

it's funny how "it's all about the kids having fun out there" but when the lights come on and the stands are full and the kids take the field, something happens. i wouldn't call it magical per se but it's a transformation and no matter how hard one resists, you just want to win. or at least i do. the competitive spirit is beyond logic.

i see it in all the other teams too. no one is going to blows over a call or anything [at least not yet] but no one is giving an inch either.

we play in a division [Roberto Clemente 7/8 yr olds] that has been dominated by the Angels. a team that legend has it can't be scored against much less beaten.

they've got they've got the High School varsity Coach, an ex-semi-pro ball player, a squadron of support coaches, great uniforms, all the drills and chants and the whole nine-yards.

and then there are the rest of the teams [reference 'kicking and screaming].

there is a state tourney which then sends a team to the little league world series. big stuff in a small way. so there is something to work toward.

here come the Marlins. a team put together with glue and string. with the coach [where's that guy from?] and the mexicans [see kicking and screaming] and francis and a bunch of players that never even put a baseball glove before the season.

long story short: the Angels are looking in their rearview mirror and they see the wake of the Marlins a-comin' fast.

we've given them a couple of good games and won the other games we've played. overall record: 7-1 [4-1 league play].

lots more games. a lot of fun. gets us out. francis with other kids. the sound of the "ping" and roar of the crowd.
