Subject: Ted Swain

I remember Ted Swain at Stocktonwood school, he taught us tech. drawing, he must have done something right because I ended up as an engineering draughtsman. Also P.J.Kellet who helped me a lot. before we all moved to Central Avenue some classes from Stocktonwood had to go to the extension near the Distillers factory up Woodend Ave. we used to do the usual boys hobby and train spot at the main line which ran alongside the school.
I worked at Dunlops from 1955 to 1961, I see it has all been knocked down and the magnificient sports field ruined. Played football and cricket there many times whilst at Dunlops.
Speke has changed, the Dove and Olive as well as the Pegasus have been knocked down!

My dad worked in Dunlops and the playing fields opposite with the line of gorgeous trees (still there but sad looking) I remember that playing field was immaculate, well kept the club that used to be there my dad & especially my uncle it was their regular haunt Fri/Sat night....It has all gone now! Very sad to see. But fond memories indeed.
