Subject: The Good Old Days

I lived in Speke,on Greyhound Farm Rd,1940-1958,after getting married moved to Garston then Aigburth, have been in Canada since 1965,have been back many times last in 2001.
We had plenty of open space to spend our days, which as slowly gone from the Speke area,I remember the sod fights we had on the Table Bridge, this Bridge had a Gun mount on it from the War,we would split up into two groups one defending the other attacking, hurling sod at one another, many a black eye and bloody noses, but it was all in fun.On Greyhound we had Midget Cricket Test matches, each on of us would represent a Country,Whittle our own little bats, using a marble as the ball, wickets out of lolly pop sticks,we would play the same hours as the proper tests,we all had holes in our pants after.
Yes Oglet Shore and the Dam woods were great play grounds, were the old Lockheed factory used to be was all open Fields. Those corn fields could tell some stories I know. Maybe in 2004 I will try to write more about those times 1943-1953 Take care,I would love to hear from anyone who remembers me
