I remember walking in those woods with my Mum who was the District Midwife, she was always cautious whereever, we went, one day she suddenley said, don't look over there, to which of course we did and to our surprise there was a flasher, we all hurried along and came to no harm. I can remember the gypsies coming to the top of Western Avenue on the waste ground and I used to be intrigued and take them my comics I'd read, when I would go home, Mum would say you haven't been up with the gypsies have you, I would reply no, but she could always smell the woodsmoke on my cloths, those were special days I will never forget!! What a great website, Speke was a new town full of opportunity for everyone, it was safe and had great community spirit.
