Subject: Hunts Cross/Speke

I hope you dont mind me writing on the Speke page, but I lived in Leafield Road, Hunts Cross, but visited Speke often, so I am sure you will forgive me!!!
Just wondering if there is anyone out there who knew anybody from Hunts Cross between 1941 to 1956, when I was born to when I went to live in California. Some of the names of people who I would love to contact: BILLY AND PETER GRAINGER, JUDITH MILLETT, MARGARET AND VICTOR LAMONT, they are to name just a few, if anyone knows of the whereabouts of these people I would love to hear from you. Also, I used to attend Speke Baptist Church, when it was a little wooden hut at the end of (was it Eastern or Western Ave?) but would love to hear from anybody who attended that church then, there was a girl called Milly who had a brother called Cliff, but I cant recall there surname. I used to walk from Leafield Rd, over the bridge, past the dairy, and down to the old airport, many a time, I love visiting the airport, also, my Dad worked for Distillers/Penicillin at the time, anybody know anybody who worked there? Mum worked for Bees Seeds, on the corner of Fleming Road, Evans Medical Supplies, and E.R. Squibbs, again, if anybody knows of anybody who worked in these places would love to hear from them.. I went to Kingsthorne Road School before going on to Mosspits Lane, Olive Mount and Anfield Commercial College. Love to all scousers. Oh by the way, I now live in Corby, Northants

Hi Peter, thanks for your message about your relatives who live in Leafield Road, I dont think I knew them, but would like to know more about them. I lived at No. 3, next to the Gladys Grace who was at No. 1 and the Harwoods at No.5, I still keep in touch with Mrs. Harwood grand daughter, Megan who now lives atNo.5. your relatives are just a little older than me, I am 65 last week, but I am sure they will know a lot of people I knew, once again, thanks for letteing me know. Are you from Liverpool then. ? Regards, Pam Benson, nee Shaw

I went to Kingsthorne Road School. Probably started about 1947/48 (will have to get my old papers out). Remember the Babies Class which was sort of separate from the rest of the classes and remember the canteen. Pauline Behan, Yvonne Whitika (sp) Rita Tushingham were in some of my classes.
Hated Miss Evans and Mr. Williams.
Would love to have some pictures of the "DISTILLERS" as my mum worked there. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me. Lived in Leafield Road, Hunts Cross.

Had many friends in Hunts Cross x(have replied before but with no feedback so maybe did it wrong.
Look forward to a reply and some names that ring bells.

I went to The Hut Sunday School, Miss Graham was our teacher and Cliff Hall used to play the organ. I wrote a book called Speke to Me. Do you have any photos of The Hut in Oglet Lane?

Go well

David Paul
