Hi,
I don't remember them because I was very very young, but I knew of them. My sister Agnes used to go and also her boyfriend Norman who became her husband.
From what I was told there was a few battles outside the dance venue.
It must have been brilliant to see the Teddy boys in their suits also the girls in their dresses and huge petticoats. Do you have any pictures.

Any one remember the dance hall, above the stationary shop on the corner of St Mary's Road & Moss Street. The entrance was in Moss Street. In the 60s I worked in the Printers above the shop and under the grime, ink and oil was a lovely dance floor, with seating around the walls.

Remember it well Jim ... the dingle lads and the Speke lads used to be always fighting on a saturday night at the baths. I think at that time thats all they used to go there for.....it became a status thing between Speke and The Dingle. Been in lots of fights there when I was growing up in the early days. Plus the Garston lads were always there ....lads like Aggy Smith and Tucker Jones the hard cases of the times. We also spent some time dancing between fighting and I was always in awe of the singers and the bands who played there. Never had bouncers in those days and it was up to the owners whether you got in or not.
Crazy days but good ones when you think back.
