hello Tom, and members,back in 1977 i worked at J.DAVY LTD,on woodend avenue,just before the railway brdge,most of the people of SPEKE must have visited here as it was A main FORD dealer in south liverpool. i started on used cars,then bodyshop,and finally forecort,(petrol pumps where we served you).some names that come to light joe mcmahon(who got me the job-thanks joe)dave forshaw,steve foy,(parts dept)mary fitzgerald,(reception),danny bishop,& jimmy&paul quick(forecourt). other firms in the area at that time cousins cake and pies, h.hunt& sons,seagrems,lockheads,hansons dairy(later became unigate)graphic studios,dista,standards(later british leyland). Edwards lane had resins, b.t.,domcraft & lots more. Also some members may recall the car auctions at MCKENZIES garage on corner of spekehall rd, goodlass rd, spent many a saturday afternoon here when i was young (best cup of dinking chocolate i tasted)you needed it to keep warm.happy days baz.
