Do you know what type of motherboard it is? I encountered a problem with 6 different computers with the K7S5A board (this was a common board sold on General Nano comps). They all had symptoms like locking up, not powering up ther first time or randomly shuting down. The problem was they use cheap capaciters and after about 6 months some of them pop. Solution replace motherboard (which means reinstall windows and all software again unless you get the same board(not advisable))
