Subject: For the religious types...

I realize a lot of people think this is stupid, but did anyone give anything up for Lent? I was just curious if I was the only one who does this. I myself gave up playing all video and computer games, even FreeCel and Snood. It's been tough, but I've been taking it one step at a time.
Anyway, I was just wondering if any of you are giving something up for Lent.
Marty

I always like hearing what people give up. Marty I am very impressed in what you chose, congrats. I could never do that. So now I'm gonna go play Ghost Recon on X box.

Steve,
Few things. First...Jesus gave up his life for us. So in a small way, during lent, we give up something for him. The idea is this. Say I give up pop. Everytime I want to drink a pop, I need to consciously remind myself that I can't drink pop. This conscious thought then directs me to think...why did I give his up? And then you say...I gave this up, because Jesus gave up his life for me. So...giving up something for lent reminds you of what Christ did on the cross, and the pain he suffered. Then...on Easter he rose...which of course is the victory in it all...so on Easter, we celebrate by indulging in the desires of the flesh...well not really...but we do celebrate by doing that which we gave up, and it reminds us of the sweetness of Christ's victory.
Hope that helps.
TK
